Your assignment for this project:
  • Visit the State Sovereignty Commission Digital Archives
  • Search your last name or somebody else in your family (grandparents', parents', aunts', uncles, etc last names to see if you can find anybody named in the documents that share your family names.
    • Don't forget mother's maiden name.
    • If you can't find any of your family member's names, search for James Chaney, James E. Chaney, and James Earl Chaney.
  • Read what the state had about them
  • Choose 1-3 documents (can be different names) and explain what the commission had written about that person.
  • What from those documents could be damaging to that person?
  • Finally, write a 1-page, fictional story of what this information could have caused to happen to that person.
  • Give your paper to Mrs. Jamieson before you leave.
